He was born in the city of Flavia Neapolis (modern Nablus, West Bank, called Shechem in the Old Testament). Although claiming to be a Samaritan, his family was pagan Greek-speaking, and he was educated in that cultural context. The Greek apologists are ecclesiastical writers who sought to defend the Christian faith of the accusations made against him by the pagans during the second century and III. The term Nefilim or Nephilim (Hebrew "Fellers") means giant, but has different shades depends on what line of thought considers them: For the Orthodox Jewish position (and Protestant Christian) is a country of giants or Titans fruit of the union of the sons of Seth (sons of God) and the daughters of Cain (daughters of men) mentioned in Genesis 6:4 and in the Book of Numbers 13:33. For Aramaic, the term Nephila specifically referred to the constellation of Orion, and thus Nephilim half would be divine descendants of this constellation. According to the Greek view (read Catholic), the Nephilim appear as unnatural sexual union of some wicked angels with women land.
Book of Baruch: "There were born the famous giants of the early days of great stature and expert in war. But it was they who chose God and gave them the path of science, they perished by their lack of discernment, perished for their foolishness. " (Baruch 3:26, 3:27, 3:28)
Book of Wisdom: Also, at the beginning, when the proud giants died, the hope of the world took refuge on a raft (Noah's Ark), which, led by your hand (Yahweh), left the world the seed of a new humanity ". (Wisdom 4:6)
Sirach: "Does being young (David), not killed a giant and removed the reproach of the people, when he threw a stone with a sling and struck Goliath's arrogance?" (Eclesiástico. 47:4)
