The difference between "Power" and "The Presence" of God. A post on a sermon from Pastor Claudio Freidzon.

Translated from Spanish to English with Google Translator.

This post is based on the message of Pastor Claudio Freidzon on Saturday July 20, 2013.

A. Introduction

Pastor Claudio began his speech by referring to Friendship Day, since it was always highly valued friendship and the Bible talks about its importance. The pastor chose the following passage:
At any time friend loves to help the brother born for adversity.
Proverbs 17.17 NIV.

This text expresses an ideal, a perfect friend who will never fail us nor forsake us. Thing is humanly impossible. But Jesus came to fulfill this Word, He is faithful and true friend:

ü Jesus reveals to us the whole Word of God (John 15:15)
ü Jesus gives us life because He is the Life (John 14:6)
ü Jesus gave us the greatest proof of love possible, giving His life for ours (John 15:13)
ü Jesus gave his promise to be with us always (Matthew 28:20)

Thus, Jesus is our best friend, He has given us a unique possibility: Log freely in the Presence of God. This capability is part of the New Testament, for Jesus this was previously unthinkable. Recall that in the Bible is established that in the A. T. that:

ü The people could only stand in the courtyard of Tempo
ü The only priests could enter the Holy Place
ü Only the High Priest could only enter the Most Holy Place, making blood sacrifices first for his own sins.

This last point is interesting, because the high priest entered behind the veil of the temple only in the Day of Atonement (Leviticus 19) having first made an atonement for himself, and did so many bells carrying on their clothing (which sounded to each of its steps) and a rope tied to his foot. If the High Priest was not "Clean" before God, he risked death. The rope tied to one of his feet would then for priests who had been out of Holies "could pull out the body of his superior ....
When Christ died on the cross of Calvary, the Lord tore up and down the Veil of the Temple, thus removing the separation of his presence:

7 Again therefore Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I am the door of the sheep.
9 I am the door: by me will be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Juan RV 10.7 and 9 60

"Jesus is the Gateway to the Presence of God"
Here the Pastor made a parallel impressive: He explained that when a Jew loses a family member, a sample of your pain is tearing his hair. It could be said that God manifested his grief by tearing the curtain (robe) who kept His Presence in the Temple of Jerusalem.
Christ was formed and our Great High Priest, through whom we all have free access to the Father of glory.

B. Differences between "Power" and "The Presence" of God

1. Living in Canaan
Just as the Lord in his time led Israel into Canaan, a land of blessing, in the same way Jesus helps us to Eternal Life. But it is very important that at this point we may recognize the difference between "Power" and "Presence of God".
If we look closely at the book of Exodus, we see that God fully revealed its "Power" to the Israelites:

                      I. The Ten Plagues of Egypt [1]
II. The defeat of the army of Pharaoh at the Red Sea
III. Dry Crossing of the Red Sea
IV. The Shekinah of God that guided them in the wilderness.
                    V. The provision of water and manna in the wilderness for forty years
VI. The miraculous crossing of the Jordan
VII. Israel's victory over all his enemies using the Power of God.

We can clearly see that "The Power of God" made all these wonderful things. But the Israelites were transformed by seeing all these miracles, they were accustomed to live them and over time and not give them due importance, as when they complained of having to eat manna, which was literally longed Bread of Heaven and the food Egypt.

"The Power of God produces miracles for men, but not change their hearts. The Power of Gods Divine activity which acts on a specific situation, resolving it in favor of men "

An example of N. T.

At dawn they learned to Jesus, He was with His disciples in Gethsemane when the troops were led by Judas to catch it found:

3. Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
4. But Jesus, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?
5. They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus said, I am. And stood with them Judas, who betrayed him.
6. When I said, I am, backward, and fell to the ground.

John 18.3 - 6 RV60

The soldiers fell felled by the power of God, but had no spiritual transformation, stood up and taken prisoner to Christ.

"Only The Presence of God transforms hearts. Today is the Holy Spirit of God who makes this great work in us, to transform each day a little more in the image and likeness of Jesus "

2. The difference explained in verses

        I. The Power of God
The Jews knew the power of the angels of the Lord and had a high regard, while the author of Hebrews noted the importance of explaining that Christ was superior to the angels (Heb. 1.4)

Let us read the following:
20 "Realize, Israel, I send my angel before you, to guard you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared. 21 Pay attention and obey it. Do not rebel against him, because on my behalf will not forgive your rebellion. 22 If you obey and do with all my instructions, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you. 23 My angel will guide you and bring you into the land of these people that I will wipe land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites. Ex 23.20 - 23 NIV

This angel was powerful enough moments erase an entire enemy army. This is the power of God acting on behalf of the Israelites. But this angel not in any way spiritually minister to nor tolerate disobedience. It had only been appointed by God to defend them and help them against their enemies.

      II. The Presence of God
Moses was very clear about the difference between "Power" and "Presence" which we can deduce the following reading:
12 And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people, and you do not know whom you will send with me. However, you say, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
13 Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now thy way, you know, and find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is your people.
14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and will give you rest.
15 And Moses said, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up here.
Exodus 33.12 - 15 RV60

Moses was clear that:
"Having a presence is the most important, because it is God Himself and He mana power, wisdom, equality, peace, joy and all the good that a man could want"
So Moses said to God: "If you do not come to us, not us up from here. But you do not come I do not move "

"The Power of God blesses, but the presence of God will make us a blessing to others"

3. This message is for our time

The big problem with the Church today is that many do not distinguish the difference between "Power" and "Presence". Because the anguish and darkness of these times, people come to church with a great need in all areas, emotional, family, health, work, finance, economics, etc ... and looking that God will give a solution to these problems . This is perfectly understandable, and not be so bad at first. But with the passage of time alone looking "Power" we fix problems without love, respect and seek to know the Person (God) from whom emanates that power, we are in trouble. Thus we have a Church (generally speaking) that seeks the Lord only for the loaves and fishes.
It is necessary that as children of God understand that:

"The Power reveals what God does and what God's Presence is" "If we seek the presence of God in the first place, the consequence is that He will give us of His power to transform things (Matthew 6:33)"

The disciples of Jesus saw the Master exerting all the power of God, but really they were transformed when they received the fullness of the Holy Spirit. This happened when:
ü The disciples, in obedience to the word of Jesus, remained jointly and unanimously
ü The disciples remained praying, seeking God's Presence in the upper room.
The good news is that the same has the Lord for all of us!

4. Conclusion

                      I. The Power of God operates on situations for men
II. The Presence of God through a process transforms the man in the image and likeness of                                Christ.
III. To have that presence (May God wants to give us!) Only need to set aside some time every day to pray, not only for our needs and requests, but also to ask you to help us to know Him and walk in His ways.

The pastor recommended inspiring to hear a praise to enter the atmosphere of worship I share the theme you chose it for the time of prayer and preaching the end of the video of the girl who prayed to God that he had a mouth, and joy when God healed:
